 Former Giants pitcher Frank Williams died Friday, according to the Times Colonist of Victoria, British Columbia. He was 50. Mr. Williams, a Seattle native, was drafted by the Giants in 1979 and came up to San Francisco in 1984, when he went 9-4 as a reliever. After three seasons with the Giants, he pitched relief for the Reds and the Tigers before his six-year career ended. He finished 24-14 with an ERA of 3.00 over 4712/3 innings. The Times Colonist reported that Mr. Williams had lost all the money he made playing Baseball his salary peaked at $442,500 and ended up an alcoholic living on the street and in shelters.
