Rafael Cuevas was sentenced Friday after a jury convicted him of second-degree murder for killing Tim Griffith on Sept. 17, 2004, the night slugger Barry Bonds hit his 700th home run.The 26-year-old had testified that he stabbed Griffith in the chest in self-defense during a confrontation outside the Giants ballpark.
San Francisco Superior Court Judge Cynthia Lee ordered Cuevas to begin serving his sentence immediately and to pay $10,000 in restitution.
