But a couple of preliminary awards went his way.
Lincecum was selected the National League's top pitcher by The Sporting News and in the union's Players Choice Awards.
Both honors were decided in polls of major-leaguers. The Sporting News poll involved 314 players.
"A tremendous honor," said Lincecum, referring to receiving votes from his peers in the union-sponsored award. "Those guys go out there and get to see what it's like. They get a real-pace deal of what's really going on out there and what players can do."
Lincecum, in his first full big-league season, went 18-5 with a 2.62 ERA. He was denied five more victories because the bullpen blew late-game leads. He led the majors in strikeouts, and only Brandon Webb had more wins in the NL.
The more traditional award is the Cy Young, which won't be announced Nov. 11. Those votes, by members of the Baseball Writers Association of America, were due before the first playoff game.
If Lincecum wins, he'd be the second Giant to win the Cy Young. Mike McCormick won in 1967.
