Other than that one pitch, this looked like the old Big Unit, minus the 98 mph fastball. He struck out seven and walked just one -- that was Jason Kendall, intentionally, one batter before Gallardo's two-out homer.
Johnson made one other mistake, but it wasn't as costly as the mistake to Gallardo. Mike Cameron, who had been 2-for-29 off Johnson, hit a solo homer in the second inning.
The score was 1-1 when Gallardo hit his three-run homer, becoming the first pitcher to ever homer off Johnson.
Johnson struck out his first two batters and was one pitch from striking out the side in the first inning, but Ryan Braun flied out to end the inning.
"Aaaaahh," went the San Francisco crowd, hoping for three K's in a row.
BREWERS 4, GIANTS 2: After pitcher Yovani Gallardo hit a three-run homer off Randy Johnson to put the Brewers ahead 4-1, the Giants scored a run in the seventh when Aaron Rowand doubled and came home on Randy Winn's single. The Giants had the bases loaded with two outs, but Bengie Molina grounded out against reliever Todd Coffey. Off Gallardo, the Giants had six hits in 6 2/3 innings.
