Martinez sustained a concussion and didn't appear to have any broken bones or serious injuries, the San Francisco Chronicle reported on its Web site, citing an interview with team executive Bobby Evans at the hospital. Martinez was to stay overnight for observation.
Martinez is the only player on the team with no big-league experience prior to this year. He was summoned to pitch the final inning in Matt Cain's season debut. Cain has been a tough-luck pitcher, with the offense or bullpen repeatedly struggling on his watch, but both components had done an admirable job Thursday.
Before the game, players and fans stood for a moment of silence for Angels pitcher Nick Adenhart, who died in a car accident. Afterward, they were wondering about Martinez's well-being.
The Giants' clubhouse, despite the win, was quiet.
"All of us are feeling it," Cain said.
Same with Cameron, who appeared visibly shaken on the field and later in the Brewers' clubhouse.
GIANTS 7, BREWERS 1: The Giants clinched a series win over Milwaukee, taking two of three games. Matt Cain pitched seven innings for the win, and the offense collected 12 hits for the second time this season. Bengie Molina drove in four runs, and Fred Lewis had three hits. Randy Winn went 2-for-4, scored twice and made a running catch in right field to rob Rickie Weeks in the third inning.
