San Francisco Giants Inside Pitch 2009-04-30
The Giants finished April at .500, which can be considered a nice accomplishment because they started 2-7 and rank last in the National League in runs, home runs and on-base-plus-slugging percentage.

Good thing their pitching staff has the third-lowest ERA in the NL this season (3.90).

The Giants' .500 month (10-10) was clinched with Wednesday's 9-4 victory over the Dodgers. Tim Lincecum threw seven solid innings, and the offense had a rare breakout game with 15 hits, four by Edgar Renteria. Bengie Molina homered and tripled.

"It's important to be resilient in this game," manager Bruce Bochy said. "We had a tough road trip (going 0-6 at San Diego and Los Angeles), but we bounced back. To be .500 now shows a lot of character."

Not only did the Giants finish the month at the break-even point, but they've won every home series. Wednesday's win gave the Giants the series over the Dodgers, two games to one. They also won series over the Brewers, Diamondbacks and Padres.

GIANTS 9, DODGERS 4: The Giants scored five runs in the first three innings, ample support for Tim Lincecum, who wasn't charged with a run until the eighth inning. By then, the Giants were up 7-0. They finished with 15 hits, four by Edgar Renteria. Bengie Molina drove in four runs and was one hit (a double) from a cycle. Brian Wilson earned his fifth save after getting the last four outs.
