The Giants completed their first month of 2009 with a .500 record -- 10 wins and 10 losses.
Now the schedule gets a little more complex. Through this weekend, the Giants will have played 14 of 23 games at home. After that, it'll be 13 of 20 on the road, with stops including Wrigley Field, Dodger Stadium (where the Giants lost three in a row in April) and San Diego (ditto).
Plus, the Mets will be in San Francisco.
"The important thing is we're playing well at home," said manager Bruce Bochy, noting the Giants are 8-3 at home and 2-7 on the road.
Starting Friday, the Giants will play a stretch of 17 games in 17 days. All in all, May figures to be tougher than April.
That's not to say the Giants can't handle it. After a 2-7 start, they won eight of 11, the best mark in the NL since April 17.
