The Big Unit's next start is Saturday against Johan Santana and the Mets. If Johnson somehow gets win No. 299, he'd have a chance to go back to his roots for win 300.
That would be Seattle. That would be his following start, in an interleague series against the Mariners.
"I don't play those games in my mind," Johnson said, refusing to suggest he'd like to win his 300th against the Mariners. "I don't want to get that far ahead of myself."
Of course it would be special. Seattle is where he won his first Cy Young Award and appeared in two postseasons. He was a Mariner from 1989 to 1998.
First baseman Travis Ishikawa was raised in the Seattle area and remembers going to Mariners games as a kid and watching a younger version of the Big Unit.
Asked about Johnson going back to Seattle, Ishikawa said, "I was thinking about that today."
GIANTS 11, NATIONALS 7: Travis Ishikawa and Randy Winn had three hits apiece, and the Giants moved three games above .500 for the first time this season. The Giants led 8-2 after five innings (scoring five unearned runs in the fifth). Randy Johnson, who gave up three solo homers, was pulled in the sixth inning. The game got close in the ninth when Osiris Matos served up a homer to Ryan Zimmerman, his second of the night.
