--1B Travis Ishikawa, until further notice, is targeted as the Opening Day first baseman. He had three homers and 15 RBI in 95 at-bats for the Giants. In 405 combined at-bats with Class AA Connecticut and Class AAA Fresno, he had 24 homers and 94 RBI. He's an above-average defender, but the Giants can only guess what he can do as an everyday hitter.

--3B Pablo Sandoval played three positions for the '09 Giants, both corner infield spots and catcher, and now he's designated as the everyday third baseman. He played 12 games at third in '08 and went errorless. He also made no errors in 11 games at catcher. His only error came at first base, where he played 17 games. His strength is at the plate. In 145 at-bats for the Giants, Sandoval hit .345.

--RHP Kevin Correia, whose ties with the Giants were severed after the season, signed a minor league contract with the Padres, who will give him a chance in spring training to be the No. 5 starter. Correia was 14-22 with a 4.59 ERA in 170 games for the Giants. He was eligible for arbitration, and the Giants let him go because they didn't want to give him a huge bump in pay.
