--INF/OF Jesus Guzman was named the Pacific Coast League's Player of the Week for last week, when he hit .421 (8-for-19) with four homers and 13 RBIs for Class AAA Fresno, which won four of five games. Guzman, not known for his defense, is being used mostly as a first baseman after he was named MVP of the Venezuelan League over the winter.
--LHP Barry Zito has three straight winless starts despite giving up three earned runs in 20 1/3 innings. Sunday, he yielded two hits over seven scoreless innings and retired 15 straight in one stretch. "I'm not worried about personal accolades or who gets the wins," Zito said.
