--1B John Bowker, who has struggled since his first week in the big leagues, went 4-for-5 to raise his average from .199 to .242. Bowker homered in each of his first two big-league games, but has been mostly quiet since then. He entered Friday's game hitless in 14 at-bats.
--LHP Pat Misch gave up four runs and five hits in four innings in his first start of the season (fifth in his career). He joined the rotation as the replacement for LHP Barry Zito, who was demoted to the bullpen after a 0-6 April. --RHP Keiichi Yabu threw two scoreless innings to lower his ERA to 3.06. Yabu followed starter LHP Pat Misch and was one of six relievers. Yabu, RHP Vinnie Chulk, LHP Jack Taschner, RHP Tyler Walker and RHP Merkin Valdez combined for five scoreless innings before RHP Brian Wilson gave up two runs in the 10th.
--LHP Barry Zito was supposed to be available in relief for the first time Friday, but manager Bruce Bochy said Saturday will be his first day in which he can be summoned. Bochy used six relievers Friday, so there's a decent chance Zito will get action in relief of RHP Matt Cain on Saturday.
--LF Fred Lewis, who entered the game leading all big-league leadoff hitters in average (.384) and on-base percentage (.451), had a whopping six at-bats and had one hit and four strikeouts, his overall season average slipping to .327.
BY THE NUMBERS: 4 -- Home runs hit by Bengie Molina, through April 27, a team high. Molina replaced Barry Bonds this year as the cleanup hitter. He also led the team in hits and RBIs.
