--RHP Brian Wilson, after entering in the ninth and taking a loss two straight nights, was given a vote of confidence by manager Bruce Bochy. "We need him. We need him to go out and pitch well. His stuff is fine, but he's run into some deep counts and made some mistakes," Bochy said.
--RHP Tim Lincecum, despite being given a 5-1 lead, was so-so. He was charged with five runs and 10 hits and was removed with no outs in the seventh inning. Five times, the first batter of the inning for the Mets reached base. It was Lincecum's second straight pedestrian start, and his ERA is an un-Lincecum-like 3.75. --SS Edgar Renteria, who strained a hamstring legging out an infield single Thursday, had an MRI Friday, and the Giants say the injury wasn't serious enough to put him on the DL. So he'll remain activated, though he's not expected to return to shortstop until next Friday in Seattle. He's not expected to be available to pinch hit until the Tuesday-Wednesday-Thursday series in San Diego. INF Juan Uribe is playing short in the meantime.
--1B Travis Ishikawa was scratched from the lineup with a bruised left eye, a result of a pregame mishap. He took a tennis ball in the eye during a batting-practice drill. He was replaced by 1B Rich Aurilia, who had two hits, including a two-run single in the first inning. The injury to Ishikawa wasn't considered serious.
MEDICAL WATCH:
1B Travis Ishikawa (bruised left eye) was out of the lineup May 15 after injuring the eye in a pregame mishap.
SS Edgar Renteria (tight right hamstring) left the May 15 game and did not play May 16. He was not placed on the disabled list, and the Giants hope he will available to pinch-hit by May 19 and can be in the lineup again by May 22.
LF Fred Lewis (sore left toe) didn't play May 12. He appeared as a pinch hitter May 13, and he started May 14.
OF Andres Torres (strained left hamstring) went on the 15-day disabled list April 28. He began a rehab assignment with Class A San Jose during the weekend of May 15-17.
RHP Joe Martinez (concussion, hairline fractures in skull) went on the 15-day disabled list April 10. He is unlikely to return before late May.
RHP Sergio Romo (sprained right elbow) went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to March 27. He was pitching in extended spring training in early May, and he began a rehab assignment with Class A San Jose on May 14.
LHP Noah Lowry (left forearm surgery in March 2008, left elbow surgery in September 2008) went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to March 27. In mid-April, manager Bruce Bochy said he hoped Lowry would able to return at some point this season.
